Our story

It Started with a Christmas Gift

Awra & Co. didn’t start as a business — it started as a hobby I funded almost by accident. With a little leftover Christmas money and nothing in particular to buy, I asked myself: “Why not try making something with my own hands?”

I actually started making soap thanks to my in-laws! They usually send us money for Christmas, and while I normally spend it and buy something, last year I couldn’t decide what to buy.

Since the $200 was just sitting there, I decided to use it to fund my new soap-making hobby.

“I didn’t set out to start a business. I just had a little Christmas money and a hobby I couldn’t put down.”

— Janice, founder of Awra & Co.

What started as a way to use up some leftover gift money quickly became the thing I looked forward to most. Soon every gift I gave was a bar of soap — and my family and friends weren’t just being polite. They kept asking for more.

So I kept making. I tested each recipe on the people I love, tweaked it dozens of times, and only shared a bar once I was completely proud of it.

Awra — meaning “glow” — grew from that little hobby into a collection of six signature bars, each one still made by hand in small batches.

The Awra & Co. Timeline

  1. 2025

Used $200 of leftover Christmas money from my in-laws to start soap-making as a hobby.

  2. 2026

Shared the first bars with family and friends — they kept asking for more, and Awra & Co. was born.

Every bar you hold left my hands not long ago. I poured it, cut it, cured it, and wrapped it myself. That’s not a marketing line — it’s just how Awra & Co. works.
